A Story To Get Well And Truly Lost In

A Clash of Kings - George R.R. Martin

Another extraordinarily accomplished feat of storytelling from George R R Martin, A Clash Of Kings continues the epic story that began with A Game Of Thrones. Eddard Stark who dominated the first book is dead, and his family are scattered. The Kingdom of Westeros is being fought over by six contenders, among them Robb, Eddard's eldest son.

Like its predecessor, this is a multi-viewpoint narrative full of intrigues and plot twists. What Martin doesn't know about medieval warfare is simply not worth knowing and this novel reads more like an alternative history of Europe in the Middle Ages than anything else, with a little bit of magic thrown in for good measure. Entirely convincing and utterly compelling, this is feel-good fiction for those who like a story they can get well and truly lost in.
